Ice is gone, and kayaking season is here! Join us for a gentle springtime kayaking trip to admire returning waterbirds as they court and build their nests on the calm waters of this sheltered bay.
Spring is a magical time—especially when you get to experience it from a kayaker’s perspective. On this relaxed kayaking trip, departing from Sandria’s private beach, we’ll focus on birdwatching, admiring nature slowly turning green, and embracing the well-being benefits of our coastal nature.
Swans, gulls, goldeneyes, mergansers, grey herons, cranes, and many other long-term nesters have returned to their summer homes in Kuivalahti. While some are still searching for their future partners, many couples are already busy nest-building. On this kayaking trip, we paddle with extra care and observe the birds from a respectful distance to ensure we do not disturb the fluffy residents of the bay.
Even though temperatures have occasionally climbed as high as 15°C, early spring conditions can still be chilly. Despite the warming sunshine, it is especially important to dress warmly and protect yourself from the wind. If you own a drysuit, this is the perfect occasion to wear it.
And if you have binoculars, be sure to bring them along!
Thanks to Sandria's dock equipped with a specially-made kayaking step, we can begin and end our excursion comfortably without getting our feet wet.
! Important Information Before Signing Up:
Although our sheltered kayaking destination is shallow and warms up quickly, the spring waters remain quite chilly. This kayaking trip is best suited for nature lovers who already have some kayaking experience (Meloja 1 / EPP 1, or equivalent skills).

Beginner-friendly kayaking trips will start in May, once the waters have warmed up.

Location: Sandria’s private shore, Santlantis (postal code area 27170 Eurajoki). Detailed driving directions will be provided in the information email sent 2 days before the event. Unfortunately, there is no public transport to Kuivalahti.
Duration: Approximately 1.5–2 hours.

Booking: Pre-registration is required on this page. Registration closes 3 hours before the starting time or when the trip is fully booked.

The Kayaking Trip Includes:
Kayaking equipment (kayak, paddle, life vest + whistle, spray skirt).
If needed, you can also borrow a paddle leash, waterproof phone case, dry bag for spare clothes, and a safety strap for sunglasses.

All kayaking equipment will be provided by the organiser. Please pay special attention to dressing warmly, protecting yourself from the wind, and bringing a proper set of spare clothes.
